a reflected reminder.

reflection meditation september 1

Continuing the reflection meditation practice.

Breathing in

Breathing out

Focusing just on me

This week, as I look in the mirror, I have been inviting in peace with each inhale. Then, I try to give the negative, nagging voices permission to quiet and settle inside this peace as I exhale.

And, I have been playing with jewelry…an idea born from a discovery of metal stamping letters in the garage at my in-law’s this summer that flowed into the desire to create daily reminders that would act as a talisman of sorts to wear around the neck…an invitation to quiet the mind in the midst of all that a day can bring.

This is a pendant I created this weekend.

i am beauty pendant

It is a reminder to embrace my beauty.

When I look in the mirror, I read its words and pause just for a moment and remember. I pause to remember me.

I created it to be read when reflected in a mirror, so it is backward when you look at it straight on but forward when you most need to read it…when you are looking right at you.

A reflected reminder, a reflected invitation to embrace and own your beauty.

The necklace is beautiful...and so are you.

Another line for the The Little Room?

I've been thinking of you and how the pumpkin spice lattes are just around the corner.

I love the reflection exercise and the necklace - that's just for you to read and be reminded in the midst of those negative thoughts that creep in and take hold. Thanks for sharing with the world. I think I need a little (a lot) of this medidation, too!

Love your pendant and the idea behind it! I occasionally go through phases where I whip up quick jewelry for myself, and have been thinking about it again lately.... Okay, fess up -- did you color your hair? It's looking good!

thanks for all the kind words...

and yes, i did get my hair highlighted. it took a second trip back though after the first one didn't go all that well...so i have spent A LOT of time sitting in a chair at the salon in the last few days. a.lot.of.time. luckily my hair dresser was great and fixed it and i do really like it. i am using the repair conditioner like butter right now. :)

That is such a wonderful idea - I love that it is read in the mirror. Have you read any Pema Chodron? I am reading a lot of her for meditation guidance.

I really love that photo of you.
