orange (wednesday)

gathering

i remember drinking fresh orange juice on the beach in marco island

juicer

from one of those orange shaped cups with the green lid and straw

one

something made me think of this memory the other day; i could smell that orange juice mixed with suntan oil, fresh air, and salt

juicy

i missed my parents in that moment as i closed my eyes and thought about the three of us, me sitting between them, on the beach of my early childhood vacations

juicing

at some point, i took a break from orange juice and all things orange flavored; not sure why, but it became a twenty year break

stacked

all my friends and family knew that orange was my least favorite

full glass

but after living here, on the west coast, for a few months, i began to crave oranges

after

and now i drink them, eat them, and breathe them in

drink up

perfection nestled in memories

day three of color week

Nice, Liz. I have a Busch Gardens memory that involves the same drink -- but with hoop skirted, period-dressed women across a pond! I so loved that orange...and the plaid coat I was wearing and my six year old's short hair. But the parent part...like with you, I think, a mixed memory. On to happier times -- and french bee glasses (we have the same!).

:)
i loved these photos
especially against the blue
of your blog-walls...
so pretty.

and i heart the memory that
they evoked for you...
isn't it funny how some things
can manage to do that so
strongly.

so i saw your greens and i thought, "how refreshing!!!"
i thought nothing could look quite so refreshing until you posted your yellows yesterday. (especially that gorgeous yellow flower ;-)
but here i am today slipping on my sandals and heading out the door in search of oranges to juice...because in this moment nothing seems quite so refreshing as a tall glass of freshly-squeezed orange juice!!!
i can't wait until tomorrow ;-)

Yes, I love oranges too. But I must tell you. You may be craving them because we lack vitamin C from the lack of Sunshine in the NW area. Lovely pictures and Memories.

Liz, you take such great photos! If my computer keeps behaving itself (it's had a virus, poor thing), I'll be tuning in tomorrow.

i think that last one might be my favorite...totally cool shot...

fresh orange is my fave. i'm not a coffee drinker so it's always about the orange in the morning, or afternoon or nite!
your photos are awesome. i especially like the stacked up used peels.
