connection found {self-portrait challenge}

pattern week 2

feeling tired. a bit overwhelmed. close to weepy. i seek...i pause to notice. what is it that i need? breathing with purpose, slowly, i realize: i seek connection. i go to my altar and take a breath and open my heart to what i am seeking. my rocks. from the shores of puget sound at fort worden. i hold them tightly and remember. i am part of the water. i am tumbling and twisting on my journey. i am slicing open and breaking apart. i am shiny on the sand. i am part of the earth. i am waiting. i am open. i am found.

What cool-looking rocks. They look painted, but I'm assuming those are natural patterns in the rock itself, yes? (Either way, I like them.)

This is a beautiful post and photo.

deb - they aren't painted. i tend to look for the darker rocks with white lines through them.

i like the use of lower case and the way the i jumps out. rather like the patterns on the rocks.

Your connection to the earth -- I wish it could infect everyone, that they'd hold it so dear.
I share the same feeling with certain objects, found on walks. I like to hold them and remember who I was when I found it.

hi Liz--thanks for your beautiful words. My friend Sommer, from New Zealand, found your blog after she searched for my name on the Web. Thank you for reading my poems and for recommending my book. I am working on a sequel now, so that was nice inspiration to keep going. Best of luck with your writing, and your continued practice and journey to wholeness.
A neverending one!

Beautiful words...beautiful lined-rocks. I collect heart-shaped ones for reasons not unlike yours, only the heart reminds me "i am loved."
