constant friendship {love thursday}
my constant companion throughout my days.
she follows me around the house.
sighing when we finally settle into a room where i will work while she watches me, listens for squirrels and the mailman, and snoozes.
she came to stay just days after traveler died. we were just going to "foster" her for the rescue. but, of course, she knew she had come to stay forever.
when she rests her head on my foot when we curl up for a midday nap, i feel a certainty that all is as it should be in that moment.
she is one of my teachers as she seeks and sniffs and knows when to rest and knows when to play and knows just when to nudge me as if to say, "everything is gonna be alright."
she has a place right in the middle of my heart.

Liz we have had 3 golden retrievers over the last 25 years and first two contracted cancer and the 3rd is a rescue named Sam ~ your post about Traveler was so touching ...the goldens are the love of life are'nt they!
as you know, we so appreciate the love and companionship that our animal friends give us .... lovely pic of miss millie! xx, d
oh, what a wonderful tribute to your lovely millie. i wasn't really a dog person until this year when i started dogsitting for my cousin who was away for a business trip. now i love my cousin's dog so, so much.
I got a purebred black Lab puppy a month ago. I named him Indiana (Indy for short) and he's wonderful.
He loves to hang out under my desk in the studio and he puts his head on my foot too. I think it's so he'll know when I move so he can follow.
There's nothing like the unconditional love of a dog. I just adore him.
awwwwwww....
so sweet.
look at those eyes.
:0)
i just melted ... right here in a pool ...
A beautiful pic, Liz! Millie's nose in the pic resembles the shape of a heart. I so identify with your words having a furry friend of my own. I have loved and lost a couple too and I still think of them and miss them.
I think we are all going to get a great deal of joy out of you having a new camera lens... that's what I think!!
she is so precious and so pretty. she sounds like a great best friend!
I've read your blog forever...but I've been a bad commenter !!!
I'm also going to SQUAM and I can't wait to meet you !!!
Lovely! Your post reads like poetry. I can relate too. I feel the same way about my dog...who unexpectedly dropped into my life last year....
