snow...snow...snow...snow...snow...

We had snow on Friday...snow.
The first time my little VW Bug has seen the white stuff in at least 18 months. And here everything stops when there is snow. Many schools closed for the day. So at 6:00 a.m. J. and I sat out in the family room watching for his school (he is a teacher).
It was just like being 10 again hoping for a snow day.
At 6:30 we learned they had a 2 hour delay. A little more time to cuddle and watch the Today Show...

(if you know the movie White Christmas, and you should, please sing the title of this post in your head, or out loud, like they do on the train on the way to Vermont..."It won't be long before we'll all be there with snow")

I used to love those mornings in Alexandria, VA when I was in high school and I'd wake up to see snow on the ground. Listening to the radio, or watching the news - crossing my fingers and wishing as hard as I could - and then the announcement would come that schools were closed. Suddenly the day was a wide open wonderland with no agenda other than to go outside and PLAY.

haha I DID sing along :). I love the prospect of a snow day, a day all your own filled with limitless possibilities. If only all days seemed so free...

Ahh - Liz and Swirly: me too me too! I was born in the 50s ... and spent my elementary and junior high years near McLean and Vienna, Virgina -- it's cool to read you had the same experiences growing up. We also listened to the radio hoping against hope that our school would be closed for the day. And when it was -- yay! we all got hot chocolate, maybe a bigger breakfast, then it was out into the 'hood with our snowsuits on, pulling sleds, snow saucers and gathering up all the friends for a snowday. PLAY was never so much fun as when you were doin it on a SNOWDAY.

We've got snow here too, more expected for Tuesday.

As a working mama, the snow days kill me because inevitably it's a day that I work (part-timer) and then the days that I don't, crystal clear.

I am looking forward to snowy days when I can take my new snow shoes out onto the golf course behind our house and get some exercise in that pristine, beautiful winter wonderland.

My sweetie's in Portland this week...no snow there yet. But PDX is just like Tacoma/Seattle...everything comes to a screeching halt when it snows. :) Enjoy!
